Our Day Service

At Nelson Park we own and run our own day centre at Romney Marsh. This day centre is a gardening and horticultural project that offers service users the opportunity to socialise whilst gaining qualifications and experience in all aspects of growing fruit, vegetables and flowers. Each service user is given the opportunity to gain an NVQ2 if they are able.

From September we will be employing one of the head lecturers at South Kent College whose specialist subject is horticulture. This gentleman has years of experience working with learning disability students and consequently creates his own work plans according to the abilities of his clients.

In addition to the gardening clients will be involved with selling the produce at local markets and running stalls at boot fairs.

During the year clients will be given the opportunity to go on day trips, enjoy regular barbeques on site and participate in the occasional camping trip.

Also, on site are computers, a pool table and various books and games. This project offers clients the ability to progress at their own speed and meet new people and have fun.
